Timeline

Eligible organizations are invited to learn more and assess their fit for the Patient Safety Prize.

Before submitting an application, participants must complete registration no later than 5:00 PM Eastern Time on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Applications will be accepted for seven weeks after registration has closed. All applications are due no later than 5:00 PM Eastern Time on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

During April and early May, the Patient Safety Prize team will review each submission to ensure it complies with application requirements and Rules.

From Tuesday, May 12 to Wednesday, May 27 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time, applicants will score and comment on five other applications from fellow teams using the scoring rubric (scores are normalized for fairness).

Applicants may be required to score and comment on additional applications. Final peer reviews are due by Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.

Once Peer-to-Peer Review is complete, the Evaluation Panel will score and provide feedback on their assigned submissions using the scoring rubric (scores are normalized for fairness).

Informed by Evaluation Panel results, the Patient Safety Prize team will review the top-scoring submissions to select at least five Finalists. Finalists will have the opportunity to apply the feedback provided on their applications to strengthen, revise, and refine their projects. Finalists will have approximately one month to create a pitch video and share an optional project update for consideration by the Selection Committee.

Following a virtual pitch event, the Selection Committee will recommend up to three Winners who will each receive $1.5 million and up to two Honorable Mentions who will each receive $250,000.

The Winners and Honorable Mentions will be announced in Fall 2026.
