Amy Cotton
Dr. Amy Cotton serves as the RWJBarnabas Health System Senior Vice President, Patient Safety & Quality. Primary responsibilities include system-wide quality management and high reliability organizing for safe, quality care delivery. Dr. Cotton has 15 years executive experience leading system clinical quality and patient safety performance improvement, setting strategy and providing clinical operational support. Her clinical experience includes a decade experience as a bedside nursing and an additional 15 years as a nurse practitioner in family and internal medicine settings.
Dr. Cotton obtained her undergraduate and graduate nursing degrees at the University of Maine and her doctoral degree in executive leadership from the Mass General Institute for Health Professions in Boston.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and has served on local, state and national boards in various nursing and community health organizations. She holds national board certifications including Certified Professional in Patient Safety, Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and is a Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt.
