William Isenberg
Dr. William Isenberg serves as Chief Medical & Quality Officer for Sutter Health, overseeing quality and safety across its integrated network in Northern and Central California. He leads initiatives to advance high reliability, error prevention, and equitable outcomes for patients and staff. In partnership with the Chief Revenue Cycle Officer, Dr. Isenberg directs physician advisory services and clinical documentation integrity, while also managing physician credentialing, accreditation, and licensure.
He guided the clinical implementation of Sutter’s electronic health record in acute care facilities and continues leveraging clinical informatics and AI to enhance patient care and improve clinician experience. A board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist, Dr. Isenberg is past chair of the Hospital Quality Institute of California, serves on ECRI’s Board of Trustees, and co-chairs the Bay Area Council Healthcare Committee. Within Sutter, he sits on the Sutter Health Network Board.
Dr. Isenberg earned his bachelor’s from the University of Michigan and his MD and PhD from UCSF, where he also completed his OB/Gyn residency and research fellowship as an NICHD Reproductive Scientist Development Program awardee.
