William Schwab

William Schwab, MD is a Professor (Emeritus) in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health where he was a practicing family physician for four decades and served in multiple leadership positions including residency program director, vice-chair for education, and interim chair. He was additionally assistant dean for graduate medical education in the medical school and director of the Wisconsin Rural Physician Residency Assistance Program. Bill has been a member of the Board of Directors and senior teaching faculty of the Institute for Patient- and Family-Centered Care for over thirty years. He has received multiple honors including the Gold Humanism Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the Chancellor’s Leadership Award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the Thomas W. Johnson Award for Career Contributions to Family Medicine Education from the American Academy of Family Physicians.
