Jeff Giullian
Dr. Jeff Giullian is a nephrologist and Chief Medical Officer at DaVita, a multi-national kidney care organization, where he oversees clinical strategy, quality, and patient safety. Dr. Giullian has completed additional training and certification in patient safety and focuses his team on systems-based improvements and a non-punitive environment to build a Culture of Safety. His organization has designed a framework of report, review, respond to enhance adverse event reporting, initiate multi-disciplinary review, disseminate learnings, and improve systems.
His personal clinical mantra is "Keep patients safe, healthy, and out of the hospital so they can thrive." Under his leadership, patient safety events have declined year over year within his organization, employee engagement around safety empowerment has reached an all-time high, and clinical quality was recently recognized as industry-leading in the United States.
None of this work happens in isolation and Dr. Giullian is grateful for DaVita’s senior leadership team, nursing executives, and frontline teammates for making safety a foremost priority.
