Mary Reich Cooper

Associate Professor & Program Director, Thomas Jefferson University

Mary Reich Cooper MD JD is an Associate Professor of Population Health and Program Director for Healthcare Quality and Safety and Operational Excellence, Healthcare Administration, and Population Health at the Thomas Jefferson University College of Population Health, where she arrived in 2016. She designed and inaugurated the MHA  and the Lean Six Sigma program at Jefferson, the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Leadership (QIPS) program, and the Health System Science curriculum for the Sidney Kimmel Medical College. She has overseen more than 200 Healthcare Quality and Safety Capstone manuscripts and presentations. She is Vice President of the Board of the American College of Medical Quality, Chair of the Healthcare Quality and Safety Council for CAHME, and the QTIP Editor for the American Journal of Medical Quality, shepherding early investigators’ publications. She has been an educator full-time since 2021, after a long career in health systems, leading healthcare quality and patient safety for academic medical centers and affiliated organizations.
